The easiest way to avoid processed food is to cook your meals at home. At The Chopping Block, we teach you how to do that in our cooking classes and private events by working with quality, fresh ingredients. Our Milan Perry has some tips to ensure healthy digestion during all of your meals in this video.

Hi this is Milan Perry, I'm one of the Chefs Assistants or Class Assistants for a wonderfully fantastic place for "foodies & cooking enthusiast" alike. This is the "Chopping Block" in Chicago, Illinois...where we provide the best experiences in Recreational Cooking Classes,  Gourmet Culinary Retail Productsand 'Food-centric' special events and amazing private events.

So here at the Chopping Block, our core mission is to "Get this country cooking." Our society has become much more selective in their choices for eating and dining out. But our aim is not to create an "over-indulging" obese society that is obsessed with eating all the time! No; not at all!

We are educating and informing everyone we possibly can and everyone who would like to learn and explore the joy of eating & tasting delicious food! We are educating and informing everyone we possibly can and everyone who would like to learn and explore the joy of eating and tasting delicious food that is cooked and prepared with the most quality, freshness ingredients and healthy herbs and spices--vs--the bad effects from consuming a diet of unhealthy processed food.

So here 3 tips to keep this country cooking & healthy:

1). Always be mindful of how much you eat. Remember that most of the cooking classes are held in the evening, so unless you are going dancing or exercising immediately afterwards---that entire meal you've cooked will sit in you stomach, making digestion difficult but weight gain easy. So portion control is the key!

2). Use caution when mixing different types of food in one sitting (or in one tasting). Your body can only breakdown nutrients and enzymes so much at a time to use. If not metabolized in the right way; it could be stored as fat in your body tissues.

3). A good wine always goes great with a delicious meal--but did you know that your liver processes only a 1/2 oz of alcohol per hour? So remember to 'pace yourself' throughout the evening.

We want you to enjoy your food without having to go on a diet or detox right afterwards. Bon Appetite!
