We are pleased to introduce Food Comics from The Chopping Block where our resident Cartoonist Tom O'Brien illustrates his cooking adventures. Here, he shows us how to make a Strawberry Peach Sangria perfect for all of your summer gatherings.

Welcome back my favorite food fans! Summer is right around the corner, and the mercury is rising. You know what that means, don't ya? Time for light, sweet and fruity flavors. In my opinion there's no better way to spend a warm summers day then sipping on a cold strawberry peach sangria. This is, as always, as super simple recipe, that only takes a few minuets of work, as a few hours of soaking. Here's what you'll need: 1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries 3 peaches 1 large orange 1 large lemon 1 cup Triple Sec liqueur 1 bottle sweet white wine or a rosé 2 cups soda water or tonic

When it comes to wines for this sangria, I prefer a wine that has a small amount of carbonation on it's own. I usually go for Anjos de Portugal Vinho Verde if I want white, or Laurent Miguel Cinsault Rosé. Remove the hull from the strawberries, either with a knife or a strawberry huller. Slice your strawberries into quarters. Slice both the orange and the lemon crosswise (so that they are still in rings) into quarter inch slices. This will help the juices migrate into the wine, and vice versa. Slice the peaches into eighths. Place the fruit into a pitcher. Pour the triple sec over the top, and chill for 2 hour, or over night. Chill the wine and the soda at the same time. Once the fruit has had some time to absorb some of the triple sec, add the bottle of wine to the pitcher, and the soda. Now you're ready to sip.
