Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and we all know who makes the best valentines… our furry friends! Instead of buying store-bought treats, make your sweet pups some homemade biscuits with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. These treats are easy to make and easy to alter. Get creative with different shapes and added ingredients you know your dog will love, like bacon!
Biscuits
2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
1 cup peanut butter
1 egg
¼ cup coconut oil
1 tsp baking powder
water (if needed)
½ cup canned pumpkin (optional)
Chopped bacon (optional)
Glaze
¼ cup peanut butter
2 tb coconut oil
cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine flour, baking powder and the egg.
Add peanut butter, pumpkin (if using), and coconut oil. Mix until the dough comes together. Water may be needed at this point if the dough is too dry.
Roll out dough to ½ inch thick. Cut shapes into dough using cookie cutter, a knife, or a cup.
Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes, until golden and slightly hard.
For glaze, heat peanut butter, oil, and cinnamon in the microwave for 15 seconds. Whisk together and drizzle over treats.
Cool and let your dog enjoy!
