As the temperatures start to rise and the flowers begin to bloom, it's the perfect time to enjoy a refreshing and light cocktail. Sangria is an ideal springtime drink that's sure to impress your guests. It's easy to make, delicious, and perfect for sipping in the sun.

sangria-1One of the best things about sangria is how versatile it is. You can switch up the fruits and herbs to create different flavor profiles, such as adding fresh mint or basil for a herbal twist, or swapping out the strawberries for peaches or melons. You can also experiment with different types of rosé wine, from light and crisp to more full-bodied and fruity.

Sangria is a traditional Spanish drink that dates back to the 18th century. It’s believed to have originated in the southern region of Andalusia, but is now enjoyed all over the world.

Types of Wine

Red wine is traditionally used in sangria, but it can also be made with white, rose or sparkling wine. The type of wine used will affect the flavor and color of the sangria.

Fruits

Fruits are an essential component of sangria, they add both flavor and visual appeal to the drink. The fruit is usually sliced or chopped and added to the wine mixture.

fruit-1Sweetener

A sweetener is usually added to sangria to balance out the bitterness of the wine. Common sweeteners include sugar, honey, or agave syrup.

Liquor

A splash of liquor is often added to sangria to give it a bit of a kick. You can use any liquor of your choice, depending on the flavor you are looking for. Some include brandy, rum, triple sec, tequila, and vodka.

rose-1Serving

Sangria is usually served cold and in a pitcher. It’s often garnished with additional fruit or topped with soda water or sparkling wine and served over ice.
